OUR COMMITMENT
1209 has a long-standing commitment to forestry conservation and sustainable forestry practices. Our Green Forestry Practice applies to both domestic and reclaimed wood. All of our North American hard-woods come from sustainably managed forests.
Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) is the management of forests according to the principles of sustainable development. SFM uses very broad social, economic and environmental goals. A range of forestry institutions now practice Sustainable Forest Management using a variety of methods and tools that have been tested over time.
COLOR/GRAINING
A unique aspect of natural wood is the fact that the color of the surface changes over time. This color change is caused by the wood’s exposure to light and air (oxidation) and will vary by wood species. Variations in grain orientation may also cause color change. Color changes in wood are not defects and should be expected. Other characteristics of wood such as mineral streaks, small pieces of figure, knots and filled
worm holes occur naturally and are part of this product.
